Mayfair Group to deliver 500 sustainable homes in five years

Leading Northern Ireland-based property developer Mayfair Group has announced plans to develop 500 sustainable homes across the UK and Ireland over the next five years.

The homes are being delivered under the ‘Mayfair Zero’ brand and will involve a private investment of over £100 million. The major announcement comes as COP26 continues in Glasgow, having brought together leaders from across the world to accelerate action on climate change.

By incorporating world leading renewable energy solutions, Mayfair Zero developments will provide a unique opportunity for luxurious modern living in a sustainable and cost-effective way.

The future-friendly schemes will be equipped with integrated solar panels, solar battery storage systems and electric vehicle charge points as well as smart grid technology. This will allow solar energy to be produced during the day to power homes and cars, and any energy not being used will be stored. The stored energy can then be used when needed in the evening. Combined, these features work together to provide a Grade A energy rating.

Phase one of the first Mayfair Zero development reached sale agreed within 60 seconds of being released at the beginning of this month. As well as lowering their carbon footprint, new homeowners in Thorburn Gate, located off the Antrim Road in North Belfast will save up to £380 a year on their electricity bills at a time when energy costs continue to soar.

Mayfair Zero homes are designed in conjunction with Mayfair Group company Encom Energy, a leading provider of sustainable futures technologies for homes and businesses across Ireland, the UK and Europe.

In October 2021, Mayfair Group was named UK Residential Developer of the Year and the Northern Ireland Residential Developer of the Year 2021-2022 at the prestigious International Property Awards in London.

Director of Mayfair Group Victoria Patterson, who was recently announced as Ulster Tatler Businesswoman of the Year 2021, said:

“At Mayfair Group, as a family business we care deeply about our responsibility to protect the planet for future generations.

“The launch of Mayfair Zero and our ambitious plans to deliver 500 sustainable homes over the next five years sets out our commitment to playing a leading role in the fight against climate change.

“We also believe it aligns with what people want from their homes, which is the opportunity to support the shift to net zero carbon emissions without compromising on modern living.

“Recent interest in our Thorburn Gate development, phase one of which reached sale agreed in under 60 seconds shows that when given the choice people will choose to live sustainably – and we are proud to be providing that choice.

“Through Mayfair Zero, we are creating homes that not only benefit the planet, but pockets too. Encom Energy’s sustainable technologies mean homeowners will enjoy significant savings on their bills even as the cost of energy continues to rise.

“With a number of exciting new developments already underway we are actively acquiring sites throughout the UK and Ireland, and we look forward to making further significant announcements in the near future.”

Mayfair Group is not only leading the way when it comes to sustainable living, but they are also pioneering a unique approach to sales that enables buyers to purchase their new home directly via Mayfair Residential. This includes a streamlined, three step process that allows applicants to get financially qualified online before reserving their new home.

Victoria added:

“We want to make sure Mayfair Group clients enjoy the experience of buying their new home, and that means doing things differently.

“Our Thorburn Gate homes can be purchased directly from us via Mayfair Residential, where we can provide mortgages through independent third parties, including a Green Mortgage, which rewards sustainable living.

“This removes the time and costs associated with the traditional home buying process.

“Our simple three step approach means potential buyers can quickly get financially qualified before reserving their new home online, ensuring affordability and streamlining the entire process.

“At Mayfair Group we will continue to innovate, evolve and disrupt to ensure our level of client experience is unparalleled.”
